GRAND PRIZE Winner of the Lee Chee Peng Picture Book Award 2023
The childhood of every single child is incomplete without fun. Likewise, the childhood of an adult should not be short of games too. Regardless of location, era, or age,
there is always a fun childhood deep within every soul.
Grandma really missed her childhood. They turned the vegetable farm into a paradise and played slingshot in the rubber estate. Every game needed just a little imagination
and they could play it in a very creative and fun way.
So, let’s read the story together and have fun with Grandma in her paradise.
"This is indeed an impressive piece of work. The author truthfully portrays the childhood memories of the last generation. The writing and illustrations of this book are relatively simple and plain, reminiscent of the country lifestyle in the 70’s and 80’s. The author’s keen observation, solid painting skills, and her genuine intentions towards the chosen theme have helped to create an excellent picture book in line with local colours."
—Sooi Sooh Chui, senior journalist and picture book advocate
"Superb use of visual language, rich in local colours, deep in nostalgia and clever in storytelling. All these put Let’s Have A Fun Childhood With Grandma! on the peak of Malaysian original picture books. It is a book suitable for both young and old. It carries the emotions and feelings of an adult and the joys of a kid. It will be a bonding hour for parents and children if they read it together. While sharing their mutual love, it also passes on the culture value."
—Kuek Ser Kuang Hong, a reading facilitator and experienced teacher |

Lynhue Wong
She was born in Johor Bahru. Ever since she obtained her degree in graphic design, she worked in Singapore for ten years. After becoming a mother, she soon resigned to nurture her little child. She would read bedtime stories from the picture books to her children and personally experienced the strength and beauty of the stories. Now that her two children have started primary school, she can manage to do part-time teaching at a college. Most of all, she can now write her own story. She wishes very much that love and kindness will be instilled in the hearts of the young children through her picture book.
