Ng Seow Kong
Born in the Malaysian northern state of Kedah in 1961, Seow Kong spent his early childhood in rubber estates until he moved to Penang at 11 years old to live with his uncle’s family. In 1982 he went to New Zealand to pursue his Accounting Degree where he stayed on for a total of 10 years.
After six years in New Zealand practicing his profession, Seow Kong returned to Malaysia in 1991 for a brief 2 years before taking the plunge in 1993 to move to China. In his 21 years of stay in China, he has worked in Beijing, Harbin, Suzhou and finally Shanghai as Chief Financial Officer in manufacturing sector.
Upon his return in 2014, Seow Kong founded Malaysia Ultra Runners Association and has remained as its President for 5 years until he stepped down in 2019. In that same year, he formed an event management company, Endurance Nature with his partner Allan Lee to organise endurance running races.
Seow Kong ran his first ever race in 1980, barefooted as a 19 years old basketballer. In the 42 years of his running career, he has completed more than 200 marathons/ultramarathons in more than 150 cities in over 40 countries. His passion for endurance sports extended into triathlon where he has 8 full Ironman under his belt so far. He is aiming to race in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii in future.
Seow Kong is married with two sons. He currently lives with his wife in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, splitting his time equally between the two cities. |
